Hard, Humbling and Honest
The below post was shared to various Facebook groups in early March 2024. The Australian mining community responded with support, encouragement and unity.
Maybe it's just me...
This job is fucking hard.
It's hard to be away.
It's hard to wonder what they are doing while we are away.
It's hard to know that life goes on at home.
It's hard knowing the people we love, want to see us when we are home.
It's hard to schedule shit while we are home.
It's hard to have a life that is balanced.
It's hard to walk away from the money up here.
It's hard to have a work life balance.
It's hard to get the time we need to sort out us, when everyone else thinks we have it easy.
It's hard to not want to move to more money for the ABSOLUTE SHIT we all go through...
There are about a billion more reasons why this is hard.
IT'S HARD THAT OTHERS WHO DON'T KNOW, DON'T KNOW.
That's not even close to the really hard battle...
It's easy to end it.
What's hardest is knowing the devastation we leave for everyone else.
It's HARD to end it.
I hate my position, I can't walk away from it.
I will leave too many in the shit.
I have no escape.
I know there are others in this group the same. I just want you all to know...
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
YOU ARE STRONG FOR STILL BEING HERE.
If a FIFO friend asks for help.
FOR FUCK SAKE HELP THEM
