APPLICATION TIPS & TRICKS

Now you know how to find the newest and best roles in the industry, let’s give your application the best chance of success

Follow application instructions

First and foremost, please ensure you check for any specific guidelines or requirements. The application process will demonstrate your ability to acknowledge, understand and follow instructions. This may include formatting, document attachments, or additional details to include.

Set up job alerts

Set up job alerts, even multiple, specified to the types of roles or locations you’re interested in. If and when you receive notice that a role you’re interested in has been posted…

Apply for newly listed roles as soon as possible

…Have your CV and cover letter at the ready! The sooner you apply for a role, the better.

Answer your phone!

When you do finally receive a call back, you definitely want to answer or call back right away! Don’t keep recruitment waiting. Remember - there are hundreds and sometimes thousands of applicants to a company each week, and one promptly answered call could be the good first impression that sets you apart.

Update your details

Whether it’s a recruitment agency, company website or online job board profile, ensure that at least your contact details and current employment status/availability are always up to date!

Keep your profile active

You may need to commit to job search for some time - months, or even up to and beyond a year. Keep logging in to your profile as this will bump you to the top of active candidate lists.

Track your applications

If your job search turns into a triple-digit numbers game - and trust us, we’ve been there - it’s a good idea to keep notes on which roles and companies you’ve applied to. Many sites will consolidate your applications on a profile page where you can check the status of your application.

Be patient

It’s well-known that things move slowly in the world of mining recruitment. Some companies can take 6+ months to fill a single role. If it matters to you, stick it out, and expressing graciousness throughout the process will always impress.
